All of the 2009 officers of the New York Thoroughbred Breeders Inc. have been unanimously re-elected to serve in the same positions this year.
The officers are: Barry Ostrager, principle of Questroyal Stud, president; Thomas J. Gallo, founder and managing partner of Thomas J. Gallo III Sales Agency and Parting Glass Racing and owner of Blue Stone Farm, vice president; and Vivien Malloy, owner of Edition Farm, secretary-treasurer.
In addition to Gallo and Mallory, other board members serving the second year of two-year terms in 2010 are: Lois Engle, owner of Pucker Ridge Farm; John McMahon, owner and manager of Old Saratoga Thoroughbreds; and Chris Purdy, owner of Ivy League Farm. Four board members who completed two-year terms from 2007-2009 and have been re-elected to serve until 2012 are: Ostrager, Chester Broman, owner of Chestertown Farm; Joanne T. Nielsen, owner of Sunnyfield Farm; and Suzie O’Cain, co-manager of Highcliff Farm.
New members of the board are Dr. Jerry Bilinksi, owner of Waldorf Farm, and owner-breeder Shirl Penney.
“In 2010, NYTB will continue to be extremely active concerning major challenges facing the racing and breeding industries, specifically the inaction by the state in implementing the VLTs at Aqueduct and the crisis caused by the recent bankruptcy filing by NYC OTB,” Ostrager said in a release. “The NYTB membership can be assured that they will be hearing a lot about NYTB’s growing role in attempting to resolve these industry-threatening problems.”
