In a release from the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Manager’s Club, it was stated that the colostrum banks at both Rood and Riddle and Hagyard equine hospitals in Lexington are dangerously low and in dire need of donations as the foaling season gains speed.
Both facilities are encouraging other farms to donate as much as possible. Bottles were given out at the last KTFMC meeting, but if farms are in need of additional containers in order to make donations, they can contact the KTFMC at firstname.lastname@example.org.
"Donations have been slow to come into the bank this year…we are becoming critically low and would appreciate any donations that could be brought in," said Kay Kincaid of Rood and Riddle. "Also, all proceeds will benefit Central Kentucky Riding for Hope."
Additional containers can also be picked up at Rood and Riddle or Hagyard. Rood and Riddle is located at 2150 Georgetown Road, and Hagyard’s address is 4250 Iron Works Pike.
