Ontario Stallion Awards Winners Announced

Bold Executive leads the recipients of Ontario's 2009 stallion awards.

The Canadian Thoroughbred Horse Society (Ontario Division) has announced the leading recipients of the 2009 Thoroughbred Improvement Program stallion awards.

Ontario’s 2009 leading sire by North American earnings is Bold Executive, who had 73 winners and five stakes winners from 133 runners in 2010. Bold Executive was awarded $50,000.

Trajectory, second on the Ontario general sires list, produced 40 winners from 105 runners in 2009, including stakes winners Resentless and Joey’s Best, and was awarded $30,000. Where's the Ring was third on the general sire’s list and received $20,000. His 2009 runners were headed by 2-year-old stakes winners Who’s Big Daddy and Cawaja Beach. Ontario’s leading first crop sire by North American earnings was Mobil , who received a $50,000 check. Mobil is the sire of four winners from 28 runners in his first crop, including stakes winners Attitude Included and Mobthewarrior.

“On behalf of the CTHS, we would like to congratulate our Ontario stallions on their breeding and racing success in 2009,” said Julie Coulter, general manager of the Ontario CTHS. “We offer our Ontario breeders best wishes for success in 2010.”

Each year the TIP stallion awards program gives out $400,000 in awards to stallion owners. The awards are based upon leading sires awards and year-end points awards, where stallions accumulate points throughout the year based on the performance of their progeny. In 2009, 37 Ontario stallions received monetary awards as part of the program.
