Tampa Bay Derby Contenders in Solid Works

Schoolyard Dreams and Uptowncharlybrown ran second and third in the Sam F. Davis.

Schoolyard Dreams, preparing for the $300,000 Tampa Bay Derby (gr. III) March 13, turned in a bullet work at Tampa Bay Downs when he breezed a half-mile :47 3/5, the fastest of 64 at the distance March 7.

Uptowncharlybrown , also preparing for the 1 1/16-mile test for 3-year olds, worked three furlongs out of the gate in :35 3/5, second-fastest of 27 at the distance.

Schoolyard Dreams, a Steven Got Even colt, ran second to Rule in the Sam F. Davis Stakes (gr. III) Feb. 13 for trainer Derek Ryan and owner Eric Fein, the same connections who captured the 2009 edition of the Tampa Bay Derby with Musket Man.

Uptowncharlybrown, a Limehouse  colt conditioned by Alan Seewald for owner Fantasy Lane Stable, finished third in the Sam F. Davis.
