RTCA Continues to Seek Support For Chile

The RTCA says more help is needed for Chilean backstretch workers.

The Racetrack Chaplaincy of America is seeking additional contributions to the RTCA’s Chilean Racetrack Relief Fund as earthquakes in Chile continue to affect backstretch workers.

The succession of earthquakes in Chile has forced many backstretch workers to take up shelter in makeshift accommodations in racetrack infields. Two backstretch workers were reportedly killed in a February earthquake.

The RTCA seeks additional contributions to assist with food, water, and medicine for these workers.

“We need to help these families,” said RTCA executive director Enrique Torres. “They are a part of the racing industry, and this is their time of need.”

Since the RTCA Chilean Racetrack Relief Fund was first announced March 5, donations have ranged from $5 to $1,000. Donations can be made online at www.rtcanational.org or mailed to 400 East College Street, Georgetown, Ky., 40324.
