Error in Maker's Mark/Blue Grass Double Wager

Keeneland reported that wagering pool did not close at proper time.

Citing "human error," Keeneland announced late April 9 that the pool for the Maker’s Mark Mile (gr. IT)/Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) double wager did not close at the proper time, inadvertently allowing additional wagers into the pool.

According to a release from Keeneland, United Tote reported the adjusted pool is $52,955. A $1 Maker’s Mark/Toyota Blue Grass ticket with the five horse—Karelian—in the Maker’s Mark Mile will pay the following :

 --With the 1 pays $26.70

--With the 2 pays $45.00

 -- With the 3 pays $246.50

--With the 4 pays $35.50

 --With the 5 pays $173.60

 --With the 6 pays $30.20

 --With the 7 pays $36.90

 --With the 8 pays $31.70

 --With the 9 pays $14.70

According to the release, Keeneland was able to isolate nearly all those wagers that were made after the race started, and will issue refunds to those customers. There were two pools—New York City OTB and Amtote Nebraska—that were unable to isolate and cancel past-posted wagers, so they were removed entirely from the pool, the release said. Customers eligible for a refund should return their tickets to their original place of purchase.

"Keeneland is working with the Kentucky Racing Commission to ensure the integrity of the wagering process and that Keeneland maintains compliance with state wagering regulations," according to the announcement.

In a statement from the track, Keeneland mutuels director Robert Butcher said, "We regret that the situation occurred and apologize for any inconvenience to our patrons."
