Quest for Fame Pensioned

Epsom Derby winner is represented as a stallion by 23 grade/group winners

Quest for Fame, an Epsom Derby (Eng-I) winner and prominent Australian sire, has been pensioned from stallion duty at Sheikh Mohammed’s Darley Australia, according to the Racing Post. The 23-year-old English-bred son of Rainbow Quest out of the Green Dancer mare Aryenne has sired 44 stakes winners and the earners of $29.9 million.

Quest for Fame, who won the 1990 Ever Ready Epsom Derby as a homebred for Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms, also stood at Juddmonte and John R. Gaines’ Gainesway Farm, both near Lexington, and at Woodlands Stud in Australia during his career. His 23 graded/group winners include Australian champions Dracula and Viscount, plus Famous Digger, who won the 1997 Del Mar Oaks (gr. I) and four other stakes.

Quest for Fame also was a major performer in North America. He won the 1992 Hollywood Turf Handicap (gr. IT) and placed in the 1991-92 Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT). He earned $1,790,417 in his career.
