Assistance can also be provided by adopting horses from Florida horseman

Eddie Woods, who operates the Eddie Woods Training Center in Ocala, Fla., has donated $1,500 to the Horse Protection Association of Florida to help feed horses at Eddie Martin’s Martin Stables South.

In making the contribution, Woods challenged other members of the National Association of Two-Year-Old Consignors to assist with the effort.

"I’m just helping a good guy that has run into tough times. I’ve known Eddie a long time and am happy to help him and his horses," Woods said. "Our industry is a tight-niche community, and these horses are our livelihood. I didn’t give it a second thought to help out, and I can only hope this effort has a successful outcome."

Tax-deductible donations, with a "Woods Challenge" notation, can be made to HPAF through Assistance can also be provided by adopting Martin’s horses, according to a release.

The release said that should there be excess funds after the Martin horses have found new homes, the money will go to other local horses in need.
