Silver Train Sires First Winners

Silver Train's daughter Twist of Silver scored at Newmarket first time out

Breeders’ Cup winner Silver Train has come through with a pair of 2-year-old winners from his first crop of foals. His most recent winner, the filly Twist of Silver, scored May 13 at Newmarket, England, at first asking.

G. David Shashura and Diane Shashura are the breeders of Kentucky-bred  Twist of Silver, who is the second winner from the Storm Cat mare Twist of Faith. Twist of Silver’s second dam is grade II winner Via Borghese.

Silver Train’s initial winner, Tajin, won May 8 at Hipodromo de las Americas. The colt captured a five-furlong race by 1 3/4 lengths.

Twin Creeks Farm and Brian Kahn, in partnership with Buzz Chace and Tom Clark, are the breeders of Tajin. Out of the winning Mountain Cat mare One Bad Cat, Tajin is a half-sister to multiple graded stakes winner El Gato Malo.

Silver Train (Old Trieste—Ridden in Thestars, by Cormorant) captured four graded stakes, including the 2005 TVG Breeders’ Cup Sprint (gr. I) and the 2006 Metropolitan Handicap (gr. I). He stands for $12,500 at Tom Simon’s Vinery near Lexington.
