Zenyatta turned in her third work since clinching her record-breaking 17th consecutive victory last month, this time clocking six furlongs in 1:14 2/5 July 13 at Hollywood Park.
With regular rider Mike Smith aboard, the 6-year-old Street Cry mare worked in company with a pair of stablemates on the Cushion Track. It was her longest drill since winning the Vanity Handicap (gr. I) on June 13 to remain unbeaten in her career. She has earned more than $6 million for Jerry and Ann Moss.
Trainer John Shirreffs has remained non-committal on Zenyatta’s next start, though it is believed that she is likely for the $300,000 Clement Hirsch (gr. I) Aug. 7 at Del Mar. The dark bay mare has won the 1 1/16-mile event the past two years.
