Zenyatta worked six furlongs in 1:12 2/5 at Hollywood Park July 22 as she continues to prepare for her next race.
The move, with Mike Smith aboard, was the best of seven at the distance that morning. It was the fourth work for the 6-year-old daughter of Street Cry since she improved to 17-for-17 when narrowly winning the Vanity Handicap (gr. I) at Hollywood June 13.
The connections of Zenyatta, owners Jerry and Ann Moss, and trainer John Shirreffs, have not committed to her next race but it is expected that she will run in the $300,000 Clement Hirsch Stakes (gr. I) at Del Mar Aug. 7. The mare won that race the last two years—her only two starts at Del Mar.
Zenyatta has earned $6,074,580 from her 17 starts. She is three-for-three in 2010.
