TOBA Re-elects Reynolds Bell Jr. as Chairman

Bell will be serving his third term with the organization.

The Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association announced Aug. 4 the re-election of Reynolds Bell Jr. as chairman of its board of trustees.

Also joining Bell to serve three-year terms as new members are Bill Casner, Reiley McDonald, Garrett O’Rourke, Rosendo Parra, Daisy Phipps Pulito, Rick Porter, Sasha Sanan, Bill Shively and Arnold Zetcher.

Re-elected to three-year terms were current trustees Bell, Jeffrey Lewis, Tom Ludt, Richard Mandella, J. Michael O’Farrell, Jr. and Dr. J. David Richardson.

Immediately following its annual members meeting, the TOBA Board of Trustees met to elect officers for the 2,500-member association. Officers named for 2010-2011 are: Bell, chairman; Stuart Janney III, vice-chairman; Dan Metzger, president; Seth Hancock, secretary; and Peter Willmott, treasurer.

“I am again honored to be entrusted with the chairmanship of TOBA,” said Bell in a release. “Our industry is facing difficult economic times and many challenges. My goal for my third year as chairman is to have TOBA be the catalyst for bringing together a national group of owners, big and small, to effect positive change for the industry.”

Peter Willmott, who was re-elected chairman of the American Graded Stakes Committee, announced appointments for the 2010-2011 American Graded Stakes.

William Farish Jr. and Michael Levy were appointed to their first three-year term on committee, replacing Rollin Baugh and Bill Heiligbrodt, whose terms had expired.

Farish and Levy join prior TOBA appointees John Amerman, Hancock, Richardson, and Willmott.

The committee will meet again in early December for its annual grading session.
