Joe Morris is returning to the National Thoroughbred Racing Association as senior vice president of NTRA Advantage, a position he held about three years ago when it was called NTRA Purchasing.
Morris since 2007 has served as publisher of Thoroughbred Times.
“I’m delighted that Joe is rejoining us at the NTRA,” NTRA president and chief executive officer Alex Waldrop said in a statement. “His proven record of success with our group-purchasing program, and his solid relationships with its partners, will serve us well in the years ahead. His return rounds out one of the best teams ever at the NTRA—one that is fully focused on addressing major national issues for tracks and horsemen, core and casual fans, horses and riders, and racing regulators.”
“I look forward to working again with my former colleagues at the NTRA and with the many NTRA Advantage Partners that do so much to support horse racing,” Morris said. “I wish to thank chairman Norman Ridker and president Mark Simon for their outstanding support and trust while I was at Thoroughbred Times.”
Morris in 2007 was replaced by Terry McElfresh, who headed NTRA Advantage through at least May. His status wasn’t immediately known.
