Run Production Colt Tops Louisiana Sale

The chestnut yearling, consigned by Elysian Bloodstock, brings $75,000.

A Run Production colt brought $75,000 to top the Breeders Sales Company of Louisiana’s yearling auction at the Ike Hamilton Expo Center in West Monroe, La., Sept. 27. Oak Leaf TC purchased the chestnut yearling from Elysian Bloodstock.

The colt is a half brother 2010 Ohio Derby (gr. III) winner Pleasant Prince (by Indy King), who also has finished second in the Florida Derby (gr. I) and third in The Cliff’s Edge Derby Trial (gr. III) and Smarty Jones Stakes this year. Their dam, the unraced Pleasant Tap mare Archduchess, is a half sister to Japanese group II winner Daiwa Carson (by Carson City) and Canadian grade III winner Mark One (by Alphabet Soup).

A Lemon Drop Kid  colt sold for the second-highest price of $72,000 to Coteau Grove Farm. Consigned by Donald Stockstill, the chestnut yearling is the first foal out of the 2006 Louisiana Champions Day Ladies Stakes winner Blueyed Lass (by Sky Classic), who finished second or third in three other added-money events.
