Young Sire Cacique Pensioned

Son of Danehill was a two-time grade I winner in New York.

Cacique, a leading North American leading turf runner in 2006 for Khalid Abdullah’s Juddmonte Farms, has been pensioned from stallion duty because of fertility problems. He stood at Abdullah’s Banstead Manor Stud near Newmarket, England.

Cacique’s first crop, 2-year-olds this year, includes two winners and a French stakes filly. Cacique’s recent winner, Irish-bred Dominant, scored at Goodwood Sept. 22 under 129 pounds in his first start. Cacique’s daughter, Katerini, has run second in the Prix Yacowlef.

As a 5-year-old in 2006, Cacique won the Man o’ War Stakes (gr. IT) and the Manhattan Handicap (gr. IT) and ran second in three grade I turf events, including the Arlington Million Stakes. During his racing career in France, he captured three group stakes and placed in three group I races.

By Danehill, Irish-bred Cacique is one of seven stakes winners out of English Broodmare of the Year Hasili (by Kahyasi). He is a full brother to major sire Dansili and champions Banks Hill, Champs Elysees, and Intercontinental.
