TOC Offers Two Conformation Clinics Oct. 9

Free events feature prominent horsemen at Hollywood Park and Big Fresno Fair.

The Thoroughbred Owners of California is offering two free "conformation clinics" to the public at Hollywood Park and the Big Fresno Fair Oct. 9.

Hollywood Park's event features leading California trainers Jim Cassidy, Ron Ellis, Jamie Lloyd and Jeff Mullins and begins at 10 a.m. at the backstretch owner and trainers' lounge.

The Big Fresno Fair meeting will be moderated by track announcer Frank Mirahmadi and will feature prominent California owner/breeder John Harris, trainer John Martin and veterinarian Dr. Stephanie Murphy. It begins at 10:45 a.m. in the saddling paddock.

Participants will have the opportunity to meet the speakers and get a close-up look at various aspects of conformation through observation of real racehorses. Speakers will address what to look for before a race, including stress indicators, and overall physical attributes. There will be a question-and-answer session afterward.

Although the clinics are free and open to the public, reservations are recommended and can be made by calling TOC at (800) 994-9909, or online at
