Investec Epsom Derby (Eng-I) and Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe (Fr-I) winner Workforce will point toward the Breeders’ Cup Turf (gr. IT) at Churchill Downs, his connections revealed on Oct. 23, according to Racing Post.
Teddy Grimthorpe, racing manager to Workforce's owner Khalid Abdullah, told Racing Post, “After discussions with the owner it has been decided that Workforce will be confirmed as a runner for the Breeders' Cup Turf.
“He will run providing the ground is not too firm. They have had very little rain in Kentucky in the last month, but they are forecasting a substantial amount of rain in the next week, so I doubt it will be a problem.”
Earlier in the week, Grimthorpe would not commit to the Breeders’ Cup, but following a sharp workout at Newmarket Oct. 23 he said the Juddmonte Farms homebred is all set. If he goes, he will be the likely favorite for the $2 million event on Nov. 6.
Workforce, an English-bred 3-year-old son of King’s Best, is 3-1-0 from five starts for earnings of more than $4.3 million. He is trained by Sir Michael Stoute.
