Shaniko to Stand at Millennium in Louisiana

Son of A.P. Indy set a track record in a grade II stakes.

Graded stakes winner Shaniko, a son of A.P. Indy, will move to Louisiana to stand the 2011 breeding season at Millennium Farms at Moon Lake near Elm Grove. His fee is $2,500.

Shaniko formerly stood at Millennium Farms near Lexington.

From his first crop, Shaniko is represented by five 2-year-old winners this year, including stakes-placed Native Niko.

“Shaniko will be a good fit in the Louisiana program as well as in the southwest region,” said Millennium owner Ro Parra. “There are 66 2-year-olds in his first crop, and we are optimistic that they will help him continue to be successful. Shaniko is from a great female family, with his first nine dams all stakes producers. He provides excellent outcross value as he is free of Mr. Prospector.

Shaniko captured  the Kentucky Cup Classic (gr. II) in track-record time at Turfway Park, and he also won at Aqueduct, Belmont, Saratoga, and Gulfstream Park. He ran triple-digit Beyer Speed Figures on dirt, turf, and synthetic surfaces.
