TVG to Give Away Zenyatta DVD

First 10,000 fans at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5 will receive Zenyatta DVD.

TVG has announced that the first 10,000 racing fans attending the 2010 Breeders’ Cup World Championships at Churchill Downs on Nov. 5 will receive a free commemorative Zenyatta DVD. Zenyatta will be putting her undefeated 19-race record on the line the following day, Nov. 6, in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (gr. I).

The DVD, titled "Zenyatta A Living Legend," presents a retrospective of the 6-year-old mare’s championship career.

"We are all looking forward to history being made yet again by Zenyatta on Saturday," TVG’s vice president of marketing, Don Scott, said in a statement. "By now just about all the superlatives have been exhausted when describing Zenyatta and what she has meant to horseracing. This commemorative DVD is a personal catalogue of some of the great memories Zenyatta will leave fans with."

Among the DVD’s highlights are:

--All 19 of Zenyatta’s races in their entirety;

--Interviews with Zenyatta’s connections, including owners Jerry and Ann Moss, trainer John Shirreffs, Moss racing manager Dottie Shirreffs, jockey Mike Smith and exercise rider Steve Willard.

Also on the DVD is an interview conducted by TVG’s Christina Olivares with the Mosses prior to Zenyatta’s first race, a maiden special weight, 6 ½ furlong contest at Hollywood Park on Nov. 22, 2007. Though racetrack insiders had a suspicion that Zenyatta would become a special horse, the Mosses were hesitant to predict the race’s outcome, telling Olivares that all they were hoping for was, "a good run and a nice try."

Starting 10th in a field of 12, she was positioned in last place by then jockey David Flores and remained there for a good portion of the race before moving to midpack from which she came storming home to win by three-lengths.
