Zayat Stables' Rightly So was installed the 3-1 morning line favorite after drawing post 13 for the $1 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint (gr. I). Fourteen will go in the seven-furlong event Nov. 5 with two also-eligibles.
“She’s very fast. She’s going to be in front, so I would have been okay with any of it," said Anthony Dutrow, trainer of Rightly So. "I don’t know that post position is such a major factor to her. She’s always in front so I’m hoping for the best. I’ve been hearing for a couple of weeks now that she would be the (morning line) favorite, so I wasn’t surprised by that. She is very fast and in excellent form, so I don’t think too much about her odds.”
The daughter of Read the Footnotes—Fit Right In, by Out of Place, comes into the race off back-to-back victories in the July 5 Bed o' Roses Handicap (gr. III) at Belmont and the Ballerina Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Aug. 28.
Bob Baffert, the trainer of Gabby’s Golden Gal (15-1) said he wasn't worried about post 7 for his filly.
“That’s a good post for her. No problems there," he said. "The thing I’ve learned about Breeders’ Cup races is that the horse you bring is more important than the post you draw. I’ve gotten great post positions with horses that didn’t belong there, and the post position didn’t do us any good. So the main thing is they’re all happy and healthy and horses that deserve to be here and get a chance to run.”
