Goldikova Owners Buy Deputy Minister Mare

Brothers spend $825,000 on Just Reward, the dam of Persistently.

Brothers Alain and Gerard Wertheimer went to $825,000 for Just Reward (by Deputy Minister), the dam of grade I winner Persistently, during the Nov. 8 session of the Keeneland November breeding stock sale.

In foal to Malibu Moon , she was consigned by Claiborne Farm, agent for Phipps Stable Reduction.
Just Reward is out of Heavenly Prize (by Seeking the Gold), an eight-time grade I winner and 1994 champion 3-year-old filly.

A winner on the track, 11-year-old Just Reward is a half sister to millionaire and dual grade I winner Good Reward, plus grade II victor Pure Prize (both by Storm Cat).

In addition to Persistently, winner of this year’s Personal Ensign (gr. I), Just Reward is the dam of an unraced juvenile Came Home colt named Minister’s Reward, a yearling Broken Vow  filly, and a 2010 Henrythenavigator colt, born Feb. 21.

Earlier in the day, the Wertheimers, who own three-time Breeders Cup Mile (gr. IT) victor Goldikova, bought a $425,000 Lode mare named Safari Queen.
