Congrats to Kentucky for 2011

The son of A.P. Indy is the sire of prominent 2-year-old Wickedly Perfect.

Leading freshman sire Congrats  will stand the 2011 breeding season at Tom Simon’s Vinery near Lexington, according to majority owner John Sykes. The 10-year-old son of A.P. Indy formerly stood at Vinery near Summerfield, Fla.

A grade II winner, Congrats will stand for $15,000.

A fixture atop the first-crop list since early August, Congrats not only ranks first by progeny earnings, with more than $1.15 million, but by winners, with 20.  In addition, he ranks in the top five among all sires of 2-year-olds in those two categories.

Congrats is represented by eight stakes horses, including Wickedly Perfect, who won the Darley Alcibiades Stakes (gr. I) and the Sorrento Stakes (gr. III). Congrats’ other stakes horses include grade I performers Jordy Y and I’m Steppin’ It Up.

“We are excited to be adding Congrats to our Kentucky roster,” Vinery president Tom Ludt said. “He’s at the head of his class by winners, repeat winners, and earnings, and as Wickedly Perfect made apparent, he’s certainly capable of siring quality.”

Congrats is out of the Mr. Prospector mare Praise and is a full brother to successful stallion Flatter . His second dam is a half sister to Kentucky Derby (gr. I) Sea Hero.
