AmWest Entertainment has again been chosen to distribute the signal for the Dubai Racing Club, which will offer an expanded season in 2010-11, in North and South America.
The Kentucky-based company said there will be a winter meet and a spring meet at Meydan racecourse, where the centerpiece is the $26 million Dubai World Cup program March 26, 2011.
First post time for the initial winter meet program Nov. 11 will be 10:15 a.m. EST. Other winter meet programs will be held Nov. 25, Dec. 2, Dec. 9, Dec. 16, and Dec. 30.
The 2011 spring meet dates are Jan. 6, Feb. 5, and March 5. The Dubai Racing Carnival will run from Jan. 13-March 10 as a prelude to the World Cup program.
“Because of the growing interest in Dubai racing during the Carnival last season, the Dubai Racing Club has asked us to expand the simulcasts we carry throughout North and South America as well as in the Caribbean,” AmWest Entertainment chief executive officer Nelson Clemmens said in a statement. “As players take advantage of the chance to become familiar with horses competing at the winter and spring meets, they will have a leg up on the Carnival wagering competition.
“The full fields and outstanding racing that was true to form with the Carnival and World Cup last season demonstrated much better than average payoffs, so we are very pleased to offer more Dubai racing this season.”
The Dubai Racing Club in the United Arab Emirates will operate 20 “meets”—individual racing programs—overall. The races take place at night in Dubai.
“Emirates is committed to the sport on a global level, sponsoring major races such as the Melbourne Cup, the Breeders’ Cup, and Singapore Derby, as well as meets at Newmarket and York in the United Kingdom,” said Ahmed Khoory, senior vice president of commercial operations. “However, it is always very satisfying to support local events like the Winter Racing Challenge. “It is a great showcase for UAE-based talent, giving race fans the chance to gain an early insight into which horses to look out for this season.”
