West Point Joins NTRA as Industry Sponsor

As part of its membership, West Point will host a free, online handicapping contest.

The National Thoroughbred Racing Association Nov. 10 announced that West Point Thoroughbreds—a horse racing partnerships corporation based in Mount Laurel, N.J.—has become a member of the NTRA Industry Sponsor program.

Open to farms, training centers, racing partnerships and other industry organizations, the NTRA Industry Sponsor Program offers participants an array of benefits including:
• NTRA.com advertising
• Eclipse Awards sponsorships, advertising and tickets
• Opportunities to host DRF/NTRA National Handicapping Championship qualifying events
• Horsephotos and Horsephotos.com discounts
• NTRA Advantage rebates
• State-bred race day sponsorships in Daily Racing Form

As part of its membership in the NTRA Industry Sponsor program, West Point Thoroughbreds will host a free, online handicapping contest at NTRA.com Nov. 27, with the winner earning a berth in the $1.1 million (estimated) Daily Racing Form/NTRA National Handicapping Championship (NHC) January 28-29, 2011, in Las Vegas. West Point Thoroughbreds will also serve as a non-exclusive presenting sponsor of the NHC, which will take place at Red Rock Casino, Resort and Spa. Daily Racing Form has been the exclusive title sponsor of the NHC since the event’s inception in 2000.

“The Industry Sponsor Program is designed to help NTRA members promote their businesses to emerging audiences of horse enthusiasts and enhance relationships with their existing clients,” said Joe Bacigalupo, director of membership development for the NTRA, in a statement. “The benefits packages are very flexible and can be tailored for any industry sponsor to reach a targeted audience among racing’s 50 million consumers.”

“I was impressed with the variety of benefits available through the NTRA Industry Sponsor program,” said Terry Finley, founder and president of West Point Thoroughbreds in a release. “The program allows me to support the initiatives of the NTRA in a way that makes good business sense for our company. I am particularly eager to get involved with the National Handicapping Championship, which I think could be a fine source of new owners for our syndicates.”
