Lookin At Lucky to Stand for $35,000

Champion son of Smart Strike won classic Preakness Stakes.

Lookin At Lucky , the leading contender for champion 3-year-old male, will enter stud for a fee of $35,000 at Ashford Stud near Versailles, Ky. The son of two-time leading sire Smart Strike won this year’s Preakness Stakes (gr. I), the IZOD Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. I), the Indiana Derby (gr. II), and the Rebel Stakes (gr. II). He was champion 2-year-old male of 2009.

Munnings , another newcomer to the stallion ranks, will stand for $12,500.

In other stud fee news, Coolmore dropped the fee for Giant's Causeway  to $85,000 from $100,000. Giant’s Causeway, who once stood for as high as $300,000, ranks second on the leading sires’ list by progeny earnings. He is by Storm Cat out of Mariah’s Storm, by Rahy.

Coolmore kept the same fees for Dunkirk ($10,000), Fusaichi Pegasus  ($15,000), Tale of the Cat  ($30,000), and Thunder Gulch ($10,000).

The farm dropped the fees for other stallions Grand Slam ($15,000 from $17,500), Henrythenavigator ($35,000 from $40,000), Majestic Warrior ($10,000 from $15,000), Scat Daddy($10,000 from $15,000), and Van Nistelrooy ($5,000 from $7,500).
