Winter storm halts live racing at tracks in Northeast

Aqueduct and Penn National canceled live racing for Jan. 21 because of a snowstorm moving through the Northeast.

As of 7:30 a.m. EST, about four inches of snow had fallen in the area near the track. Live racing is scheduled to resume Jan. 22.

New York Racing Association officials said Aqueduct and the Belmont Café at Belmont Park will be open for simulcasts throughout the day Jan. 21, and that NYRA Rewards telephone and Internet wagering will be available.

Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course cited winter conditions, including extremely cold temperatures, for the cancelation.
