Alaazo to Stand at Swifty Farms

Graded stakes-placed son of A.P. Indy is out of Courtly Dee's female family.

Alaazo, a graded stakes-placed son A.P. Indy out of the grade II-winning Deputy Minister mare Atelier, has been retired from racing to stand at Swifty Farms near Seymour, Ind. His fee is $1,500.

Alaazo comes from a leading female family. His third dam, Courtly Dee, was a Kentucky Broodmare of the Year. His second dam, Aishah, was a grade II winner and grade I stakes producer.

Alaazo won at Monmouth Park and at Gulfstream Park in his first two starts. He ran second in the Turfway Park Fall Championship Stakes (gr. III) and the Greenwood Cup Stakes and was fourth in Big Brown’s Haskell Invitational Stakes (gr. I).

“I am looking forward to giving Alaazo a chance at stud,” said Ahmed Zayat, who raced Alaazo in the name of Zayat Stables after buying him for $350,000 at the Keeneland September yearling sale. “He showed great stamina and talent early in his career and gave us a big thrill in the Haskell, our summer Derby.”

Alaazo won or placed in five of 13 starts and earned $220,100.
