OBS March Sale Has 490 Juveniles

The auction will be held March 15-16 in Central Florida.

The Ocala Breeders’ Sales Co. has cataloged 490 horses for its March select sale of 2-year-olds in training. The number is up 44.1% from 2010’s total of 340.

However, this year, OBS isn’t holding its February select juvenile auction, which had a catalog of 160 horses in 2010. This year’s March total is only down 1.8% from the 499 total for the 2010 February and March sales combined.

The 2011 catalog can be viewed at the OBS website: www.obssales.com. Stallions with offspring in the book include Candy Ride , Congrats , Distorted Humor , Giant's Causeway , Indian Charlie, Malibu Moon , Medaglia d'Oro , Pulpit, Tapit , Tiznow , and Unbridled's Song.

The auction is scheduled for March 15-16 in Central Florida, with selling starting each day at 11 a.m. (EST). The under tack shows will be held March 10-11, beginning each day at 8 a.m.

Last year, the sale posted increases of 10.6% in average price and 16.8% in median from 2009. The highest price for an individual horse rose to $525,000 from $450,000.
