Stakes winners Adonis and Aristotle will enter stud in 2001 at Ernie Paragallo and partners' Centerbrook Farm near Climax, N.Y. The two 4-year-old colts raced for Paragallo's Paraneck Stable. Adonis, a 4-year-old son of Kris S. out of Dixie Card (by Dixieland Band), remains in training with Nick Zito in New York and will stand for $7,500 live foal. Four-year-old Aristotle (Two Punch -- Slick Turn Baby, by Northern Baby) has arrived at the farm and will stand for $3,000 live foal.
Adonis captured the 1999 Wood Memorial Stakes (gr. II) at 1 1/8 miles in 1:47.71, less than four-fifths of a second off the 1:47 track record at Aqueduct. He also took the Discovery Handicap (gr. III) and ran second in the Cigar Mile (gr. I) and Gulfstream Park (gr. I) Handicaps. He has won four of 16 races and earned $635,437.
Aristotle captured the Maryland Million Sprint Handicap in 1:09.44 for six furlongs, and his five stakes-placings included runner-up finishes in the Fall Highweight (gr. II), San Vicente (gr. II), and Sport Page (gr. III) Handicaps and the San Miguel Stakes (gr. III). He won five of 17 races and earned $273,991.
Paragallo, who formerly leased Clermont Farm near Germantown, N.Y., also announced the arrival of four other stallions at Centerbrook, including Danzatame (Danzig -- Secrettame, by Secretariat). Six-year-old Danzatame is a half-brother to major sire Gone West and will stand for $2,500 live foal. The other three stallions, each of whom was a stakes winner, are 5-year-olds Dr J (Gold Legend -- Haloley, by Halo) and Dontletthebigonego (Pentelicus -- Jungle Woman, by Northern Baby), plus 16-year-old Well Selected (Well Decorated -- La Soufriere, by Explodent). The last three will stand for complimentary fees.
