Amen Hallelujah Highlights Sabin Field

Filly won the grade II Davona Dale at Gulfstream Park last year.

Amen Hallelujah, a grade II winner last year at Santa Anita and Gulfstream Parks, will be making her second start at the current Gulfstream meeting when she takes on seven rivals in the Sabin Stakes (gr. III) Feb. 19. It will be the 4-year-old filly’s second start since June.

The Sabin, contested at a mile for fillies and mares ages 4 and up, is the ninth race on the card.

Trained by Richard Dutrow Jr., Amen Hallelujah cruised home to win the 2010 Davona Dale Stakes (gr. II) at a mile at Gulfstream by 6 1/4 lengths. After finishing second in the Acorn Stakes (gr. I) at Belmont Park in June, the daughter of Montbrook returned to the races in January and finished a close fifth in the Sunshine Millions Filly and Mare Sprint at Gulfstream, beaten 1 3/4 lengths. Javier Castellano rides the 123-pound topweight.

Hyperlink, another 4-year-old, goes into the race off two consecutive wins this year, both in Florida. The Kenny McPeek trainee started out winning an optional claimer at Gulfstream and then captured the Manatee Stakes at Tampa Bay Downs. Alan Garcia rides the daughter of Toccet for the first time.

Catch a Thief also sports wins in her last two outings. The Flatter  filly won the Twixt Stakes in Maryland in November and opened her 4-year-old season with a score in an optional claimer at Gulfstream in January. Trained by Tim Hills, she will be ridden by C.H. Marquez Jr.

Amazing, third in last year’s Sabin, finished second in the Sunshine Millions Distaff, run at Santa Anita. She last won at Calder in September. Trained by Marty Wolfson, the daughter of Greatness will be ridden for the first time by Alex Solis.

Joanie's Catch, by First Tour, is another who is stakes-placed this year. Out three times this year, she ran second in the Stage Door Betty Stakes (gr. III) at Calder and then fourth in two optional claiming events at Gulfstream.
