First Mare in Foal to Tale of Ekati

First-year stallion has first mare pronounced in-foal.

The first mare covered from the first book of multiple grade I winner Tale of Ekati  was pronounced in-foal over the weekend.

Sea Breezer, a stakes-winning and stakes-producing mare by champion Gulch, was confirmed in foal to Tale of Ekati at Jim and Pam Robinson's Brandywine Farm. The mare, owned by Brandywine Farm along with Rob Whiteley's Liberation Farm, finished second in the Spinaway Stakes (gr. I) as a 2-year-old. She is out of 1977 2-year-old champion filly Lakeville Miss.

Tale of Ekati won the Futurity (gr. II) and placed in the Sanford Stakes (gr. II) at 2 and went on to capture the Wood Memorial (gr. I) at 3. Later that year he won the Jerome Handicap (gr. II) and beat older males while being placed first in the Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile (gr. I).

Owned and campaigned by Charles Fipke, Tale of Ekati (Tale of the Cat —Silence Beauty, by Sunday Silence) stands at John Phillips' Darby Dan Farm near Lexington. His fee is $15,000 stands and nurses.
