Sweet Ducky Sold; To Run in UAE Derby

Holy Bull Stakes runner-up Sweet Ducky has been sold to an anonymous buyer.

George and Lori Hall’s Sweet Ducky, winner of the Garden State and Seton Hall University Stakes last year and second to Dialed In in the Holy Bull Stakes (gr. I), has been sold to an anonymous buyer for the specific purpose of running in the March 26 UAE Derby (UAE-I).

The deal, for “a lot of money,” according to trainer Kelly Breen, was completed March 14 and Sweet Ducky is scheduled to fly to Dubai March 15.

Breen had been pointing the son of Pulpit–Storm’s Darling, by Storm Boot to the Florida Derby (gr. I). Although the Halls sold their two top 3-year-olds, West Side Bernie and Atomic Rain, to Sheikh Mohammed in 2009, Breen said he has no idea who the buyer of Sweet Ducky is, but stated it is not Godolphin and may not even be Arabs.

Sweet Ducky was purchased by Breen for the Halls at the 2009 Keeneland September yearling sale for $135,000. He has three victories from six career starts for earnings of $268,250.
