FT Midlantic Sale Expanded to Two Days

Maryland sale coincides with Preakness Festival at Pimlico.

Fasig-Tipton’s Midlantic Sale of 2-year-olds in Training at Timonium, Maryland has been expanded to a two-day format to accommodate approximately 600 entries.

The sale will be held on Monday and Tuesday, May 23 and 24, with each of the two daily sessions beginning at 10 a.m.  The two days of under-tack shows at Timonium will begin at 9:30 a.m., on Wednesday and Thursday, May 18 and 19.

The cover horse for the 2011 catalog is 2007 Midlantic 2-year-old graduate and General George Stakes (gr. II) winner No Advantage, who was sold at Timonium for $14,000 and, to date, has won nine races and earned $487,262. Catalogs will be available from all Fasig-Tipton offices by approximately April 22 and the online version will be posted at the company’s website a few days before this.

The under-tack shows and sales days surround the weekend of the 2011 Preakness Festival at nearby Pimlico Racecourse.

“This is an active and popular week for the Thoroughbred community and the sale, which is one of the oldest 2-year-old sales in North America,” said local director of sales Paget Bennett. “This auction has established itself as a source of performance and value,”
