New York-bred champions honored at annual awards banquet.

Turtle Bird Stable’s Haynesfield, winner of the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I) in 2010, has been honored as New York-bred Horse of the Year for the second year in a row.

The New York-bred winners, as voted by New York Turf writers, chart callers, and other eligible voters, were honored at the annual awards banquet held April 11 at the Saratoga National Golf Club in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. New York Racing Association track announcer Tom Durkin served as master of ceremonies.

Bred by Barry Weisbord and Margaret Santulli, Haynesfield won half of his six starts last year while earning $749,300. In addition to his grade I win, the son of Speightstown won the Suburban Handicap (gr. II) and finished second in the Hill ‘n’ Dale Cigar Mile Handicap (gr. I).
