Rahy's Attorney, Musketier Meet in Elkhorn

Rahy's Attorney defeated Musketier last out; Musketier won Elkhorn in 2010.

Millionaire Rahy's Attorney, who defeated Musketier  last out, will try to tackle his rival once again when they meet in the $150,000 Elkhorn Stakes (gr. IIT) April 29 on closing day at Keeneland. Musketier won the 1 1/2-mile Elkhorn a year ago.

A field of 11 older horses was drawn for the Elkhorn, which is run on the Keeneland turf course and will serve as the feature on a 10-race card. Post time is set for 5:23 p.m. EDT.
Rahy’s Attorney won the March 26 Pan American (gr. IIIT) by three-quarters of a length at Gulfstream Park for his 13th win in 37 career starts. The 7-year-old Ellie-Boje Farm homebred has earned $1,957,090 in his career, which has included five graded stakes victories.
The gelding by Crown Attorney was runner-up in the Feb. 19 Mac Diarmida (gr. IIT) in his season debut for trainer Ian Black. Musketier was another half-length back in third. Since the Pan American, Rahy’s Attorney has posted three works over the Keeneland Polytrack. Emma-Jayne Wilson will keep the mount on the Ontario-bred.
Stella Perdono’s German-bred Musketier won the Elkhorn by 1 3/4 lengths last year and was runner-up in 2009. The 9-year-old horse was also second in the Sycamore (gr. IIIT) in October in his season finale at Keeneland before coming back with solid tries to begin his 2011 campaign in South Florida.
A three-time group/graded stakes winner, Musketier will be ridden by John Velazquez for Roger Attfield.
Several other Canadian-based horses will go to post in the Elkhorn, including a pair from the connections of Sam-Son Farms and trainer Mark Frostad—Nijinsky (Can-IIT) winner Windward Islands, who makes his 7-year-old debut, and Giant's Tomb.
Pool Play, a two-time stakes winner in Canada for Mark Casse, will also look to improve. The 6-year-old was fourth in the Mac Diarmida and fifth in the Pan American.
Also in the field is Telling, a two-time winner of the grade I Sword Dancer Invitational at Saratoga. The 7-year-old A.P. Indy horse is winless in three starts over the Keeneland turf course.
