Master of Hounds Arrives at Churchill

Colt returns to Louisville, where he finished sixth in BC Juvenile Turf last year.

Master of Hounds, the lone European chance for the Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I), arrived at Churchill Downs on Tuesday, May 3.

The son of Kingmambo was unloaded from his van at 9:53 a.m. EDT after arriving from the airport. He was immediately taken to the quarantine barn, where he will remain during his stay. Master of Hounds’ trip originated from Ireland on Monday.
Owned by Mrs. John Magnier, Master of Hounds is making his second trip to Churchill. He was here in November for the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT), where he finished sixth as the favorite. This will be the first start on dirt for Master of Hounds. He finished runner-up in the UAE Derby (UAE-II) on the Tapeta surface at Meydan Racecourse in his last start March 26. That was his only start this season.
The bay colt is trained by Aidan O’Brien, who is expected to arrive at Churchill later this week. Garrett Gomez has been named to ride.
Master of Hounds was bred in Kentucky by Silk and Scarlet Syndicate. He is out of Sadler’s Wells mare Silk and Scarlet.
