22 Believed to Pass Derby Entry Box

Twenty-two 3-year-olds have been entered for the Derby according to CD officials

The communications department of Churchill Downs has announced that as many as 22 horses have been entered for the May 7 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I). Entries were taken at 10 a.m. at the racing office at Churchill Downs but by rule, track officials and the Kentucky Horse Racing Commission cannot divulge the horses entered.

After making several phone calls to Derby connections, the communications department believes the following horses have been entered (ranked by graded stakes earnings):

Uncle Mo
Dialed In
Comma to the Top
Pants On Fire
Midnight Interlude
Brilliant Speed
Master of Hounds
Twice the Appeal
Mucho Macho Man
Decisive Moment
Animal Kingdom
Stay Thirsty
Watch Me Go
Derby Kitten

Also believed to have been entered are:

Sway Away
Ruler on Ice

The draw for post positions will be in traditional pill-pull format and will take place on the second floor of the grandstand in the Secretariat Room. The made for TV event will begin at 5 p.m. and will be shown on the Versus network.

The Derby is limited to 20 starters, with preference given based on earnings in graded stakes.
