Stonereath Farm Sold to German Breeder

Deal is expected to be completed May 24 on the 252-acre farm near Paris, Ky.

Darrell and Lendy Brown have agreed to sell their 252-acre Stonereath Farm near Paris, Ky., to German breeder Christoph Berglar. The deal is scheduled to be completed May 24.

“We had the farm on the market for a little over a year,” said Darrell Brown, who with his wife raced homebred grade I winner Blush With Pride in the Stonereath name. “We started cutting back on horses three years (ago), not knowing how bad the horse industry was going to get. A year ago in January, we started boarding our horses at other farms to get the farm in shape. It’s looking great now. We own interests in 10 horses.”

The Browns, in their name and in the Stonereath name, are the breeders of about 35 stakes winners alone and in partnership.

Blush With Pride, by Blushing Groom, won four graded stakes as a 3-year-old in 1982, including the Kentucky Oaks (gr. I) and the Santa Susana Stakes (gr. I). Blush With Pride is the second dam of 2006 Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Jazil and 2007 Belmont winner Rags to Riches, whose victory was the first in the historic race for a filly since 1905.
