West by West Dies in Turkey at 22

Millionaire son of Gone West sired 26 stakes winners.

West by West, a grade I-winning son of Gone West, died May 27 at the Karacabey Pension Stud Farm in Turkey. He was 22.

The millionaire winner of the 1993 Nassau County Handicap (gr. I) for breeders/owner John H. Peace, West by West sired 26 stakes winners worldwide, including two champions in Panama and one champion in Jamaica.

Among his top offspring in North America were graded stakes winners Sonic West and Appealing Phylly.

Purchased by the Turkish Jockey Club in 2000, West by West was represented in that country by stakes winners Sari Lira, Beran, and Silver Dancer. He also sired stakes winners in Argentina and Chile.
