Sagamore Farm homebred Monzon, who finished sixth in the May 14 Peter Pan Stakes (gr. II) at Belmont Park and is being pointed for the June 11 Belmont Stakes (gr. I), worked six furlongs May 31, according to Daily Racing Form. Trainer Nacho Correas told the Form that the 3-year-old son of Thunder Gulch covered the distance in 1:16 over the training track at Sagamore in Maryland.
Monzon is scheduled to work one more time prior to the Triple Crown’s final leg, Correas said. The gelding captured the Count Fleet Stakes at Aqueduct earlier this year and he won the Gnome’s Gold Stakes last year at Belmont Park.
