Visit With Zenyatta to Benefit CKRH

CKRH is a 30-year-old therapeutic riding program based at the Kentucky Horse Park.

An opportunity for up to six people to visit 2010 Horse of the Year Zenyatta at Lane’s End Farm will be offered to the highest bidder at the eighth annual “Night of the Stars,” the June 18 fundraiser for Central Kentucky Riding for Hope being held at the Keeneland Entertainment Center in Lexington.

CKRH is a 30-year-old therapeutic riding program based at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington.

CKRH’s “Zenyatta Package,” which will be scheduled on a mutually agreed upon date, also includes a photo opportunity with Zenyatta (for personal use only) and lunch at Dudley’s restaurant  in downtown Lexington.

“The Journey Continues” is the theme of the event that includes cocktails, dinner, and silent and live auctions. The event begins at 6 p.m. EDT, and tickets are $100, with sponsorship opportunities.

Those not attending the fund-raiser can also bid on the Zenyatta package by submitting their bid and their credit card information via email or phone to Vickie Parker at CKRH at vickie@ckrh.org or (859) 231-7066. The deadline to submit phone and email bids is 4 p.m. June 16.

Included among the silent auction items are a halter worn by Zenyatta that bears her name, as well as halters worn by champion Blame (the only horse to defeat Zenyatta) and champion Bernardini, to whom Zenyatta was bred this year.

In addition to the Zenyatta package, among the other live auction items are two tickets to the 2012 Masters golf tournament in Augusta, Ga.

Horses wearing elaborate costumes created by Shirley Gentry will be auctioned in the style of a prestigious Thoroughbred sale. The highest bidder for each horse will gain a year’s sponsorship of that horse, along with a commemorative photo and plaque.
