Horses will soon be running again at Canterbury Park.

After weeks of being dark because of a state government shutdown, Canterbury Park in Minnesota will resume its racing and gaming operations July 21.

Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton has signed a budget deal supported by Republicans, meaning the state is back in business. Canterbury and Running Aces Harness Park are regulated by a state agency—the Minnesota Racing Commission--which did not operate as part of the shutdown.

Canterbury has a first post time of 7 p.m. CDT, though its simulcast operation and card club will open earlier. Admission to the live races will be free July 21, track officials said.
