Breeders' Cup announced July 27 that entries will be taken and the post-position draw for this year's Breeders' Cup World Championships will be held Monday, Oct. 31, at Churchill Downs.
Entries for all 15 races will close at 10 a.m. EDT, and the draw will be held at 1 p.m.
For the past four years Breeders’ Cup has taken entries and conducted the draw on the Tuesday of Breeders’ Cup week.
"We believe that drawing the races on Monday will provide horsemen, simulcast outlets, the worldwide media covering the event, and the wagering public more time to prepare for the Championships," Breeders' Cup communications director Jim Gluckson said of the rationale behind the move.
With purses totaling $26 million, the Breeders’ Cup will be held at Churchill for the second consecutive year Nov. 4-5. It will be televised live on ABC/ESPN.
