Jockeys to Sing for Charity

The Saratoga jockey colony will sing karaoke to benefit the PJDF Aug. 22.

Saratoga jockeys will be in full voice Aug. 22, when they take the stage at Vapors Night Club at Saratoga Casino and Raceway for “Riders Up,” an evening of jockey karaoke, dinner, and dancing to benefit the Permanently Disabled Jockeys Fund.
“I can tell you from experience it will be entertaining,” said Nancy LaSala, president of the board of the PDJF, in a release. “This event has been held before at Keeneland during the Spring Meeting.  It’s been a great event there and I’m sure it will provide a great night out with a lot of laughs at Saratoga and all for a great cause.”
The master of ceremonies for the evening is Tom Durkin and a celebrity panel will serve as judges for the karaoke contest.

Among the jockeys expected to attend and participate are John Velazquez, Ramon Dominguez, Javier Castellano, Rajiv Maragh, Kent Desormeaux, Alex Solis, Edgar Prado, David Cohen, Alan Garcia, Jorge Chavez, Maylan Studart, Robby Albarado, and Julien Leparoux.

Tickets for the event, which runs from 6:00-11:p.m., are $100, which includes a buffet dinner, jockey karaoke, and karaoke/dancing after the show. A cash bar will be available. Advance tickets can be purchased online at
