Champion Stevie Wonderboy Sires First Winner

Stevie Wonderboy won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile the year of his championship.

Stevie Wonderboy, the champion 2-year-old male of 2005, sired his first winner when his son Sunny Superstition won at Del Mar Aug. 3. The colt, a half brother to stakes winner Merus Miami and grade I stakes-placed American System, scored by 1 1/2 lengths in 1:05.06 for the 5 1/2 furlongs. Bred in Kentucky by Brereton C. Jones and B. Ned Jones, Sunny Superstition is out of the graded stakes-placed Copelan mare Profit System.

Stevie Wonderboy (Stephen Got Even—Heat Lightning, by Summer Squall) captured the Bessemer Trust Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (gr. I) and the Del Mar Futurity (gr. II) the year of his championship. He stands at Brereton C. Jones’ Airdrie Stud near Lexington. His 2011 fee was $10,000.
