Saratoga Cancels Racing for Aug. 28

Hurricane Irene is expected to have an impact on eastern upstate New York.

The New York Racing Association said there will be no live racing at Saratoga Sunday, Aug. 28 because of the oncoming Hurricane Irene. Live racing at Saratoga is expected to resume Aug. 29.

The grade I Personal Ensign Stakes, originally scheduled for the Sunday program, will be re-drawn Aug. 31 and run Sept. 3 on a card that will include the Woodward Handicap and Forego Stakes (both gr. I).

As announced earlier, there will be no simulcasting at either Aqueduct or the Belmont Café Aug. 28.
