Embur's Song will carry the highest weight of her career as she attempts to win her fifth consecutive stakes in the Seaway (Can-III) Sept. 3 at Woodbine. Assigned 124 pounds, the 4-year-old Unbridled's Song filly campaigned by Fares Farm will concede from five to 11 pounds to her eight rivals in the seven-furlong event over Polytrack.
The $150,000 Seaway, for fillies and mares 3 and up, will go off as the eighth race. Post time is 4:51 p.m. EDT.
Embur’s Song, who will be breaking from post 8, will be going for her third stakes win at Woodbine this year. She won the Ontario Matron Stakes (Can-III) July 24 in her last start and the Hendrie Stakes (Can-III) in May. Her other two wins this year came at Keeneland in the Hilliard Lyons Doubledogdare Stakes (gr. III) and at Presque Isle Downs in the Windward Stakes. She carried the highest weight of her career, 123 pounds, in the latter event.
Trainer Todd Pletcher has secured the return services of jockey Patrick Husbands.
Atlantic Hurricane, who has made all four starts this year at Woodbine, will be switching from the turf to Polytrack. The 4-year-old Halo's Image filly has won her last three starts including her most recent under 124 pounds. She will ridden again by Emile Ramsammy. S.C. Simon trains her.
Amiable Grace also sports a Woodbine stakes win this year. The 4-year-old daughter of Alphabet Soup won the Sweet Briar Too Stakes two races back and finished fourth in the Belle Geste at the Toronto track Aug. 21 in her last outing. In her other two races this year, she finished first and was beaten a nose. Emma-Jayne Wilson rides for trainer M.J. Doyle.
Doyle also will be starting Dance to the Moon, who has won three of her last four starts. The 4-year-old Perigree Moon filly enters off two consecutive front-running scores. Slade Callaghan rides for the 10th straight time.
Rashnaa, third in the Sweet Briar Too, has won two of four starts this year including an optional claimer by 4 1/2 lengths. The 5-year-old Tapit mare was beaten a half-length in the Sweet Briar Too. Rashnaa, trained by R.P. Tiller, will break from the inside post under Luis Contreras.
The Seaway field also includes Live and Love and Trip Mom, both winners of their most recent start, New York shipper Comic Marvel, and Valli With a Vow, who finished third in this year’s Nassau Stakes (Can-IIT) two races back.
