Custom for Carlos to Clear Creek

Graded stakes winner by More Than Ready recorded five 100-plus Beyer Speed Figures.

Sprint specialist Custom for Carlos , a three-time graded stakes winner, has been retired from racing to stand in 2012 at Clear Creek Stud near Folsom, La. His fee is $3,000 live foal payable Sept. 1 of year bred, or $3,500 live foal stands and nurses.

Five-year-old Custom for Carlos, by More Than Ready  out of the stakes-placed Meadowlake mare Meadow Oaks, was campaigned over seven different tracks in six states by Ron and Ricki Rashinski’s Homewrecker Racing and John and Ann Wieczorek’s Avalon Farm. From 15 career starts he won or placed in 11 races and earned $483,865.

Custom for Carlos, who specialized in sprinting, won the Count Fleet Handicap (gr. III) at Oaklawn Park as the heavy favorite, going six furlongs in 1:09.05 and yielding five to eight pounds to his competition while recording a 106 Beyer Speed Figure. In Monmouth Park’s six-furlong Jersey Shore Stakes (gr. III), he registered a 106 Beyer while setting the pace to win by 6 1/4 lengths in 1:08.19. In the 2010 Mr. Prospector Stakes (gr. III) at Gulfstream Park under topweight, he posted a 103 Beyer in the six-furlong event. Custom for Carlos also won Churchill’s six-furlong Bet On Sunshine Handicap by 3 3/4 lengths.

Custom for Carlos recorded two more 100-plus Beyers including a 109 when finishing second to 2010 champion sprinter Big Drama in this year’s Mr. Prospector.

Bred in Kentucky by David E. Hager II, Custom for Carlos is a half brother to stakes winner Mimi's Bling. Custom for Carlos’ second dam, Peggy Slew, is out of New York grade I winner Plankton, whose descendants include grade I winner Megahertz.
