Saratoga Re-accredited by Safety Alliance

The New York track is the eighth to be re-accredited by the alliance in 2011.

Saratoga has been re-accredited by the National Thoroughbred Racing Association Safety and Integrity Alliance, officials said Sept. 2.

The re-accreditation followed a complete review of all racing operations at the facility operated by the New York Racing Association. Saratoga received its initial alliance accreditation in August 2009; all accreditations and re-accreditations carry an effective period of two years.

Saratoga wraps up its 2011 meet Sept. 5.

Saratoga is the eighth alliance-accredited racetrack to earn re-accreditation, joining Arlington Park, Belmont Park, Churchill Downs, Del Mar, Hollywood Park, Keeneland, and Pimlico Race Course.

The inspection team at Saratoga was comprised of Dr. Ronald Jensen, Mike Kilpack of the Organization of Racetrack Investigators, racetrack consultant Jim Gates, and alliance executive director Mike Ziegler.

“Saratoga’s commitment to safety and integrity befits its status as one of the world’s showpiece racetracks,” Ziegler said in a statement. “As has always been the case with racetracks operated by the New York Racing Association, Saratoga features a great many policies and procedures that can be categorized as industry-wide best practices.”
