Lido Palace to Stand in Peru

Chilean Horse of the Year was a leading North American runner.

Lido Palace, a Horse of the Year in his native Chile and a grade I winner in the United States, has been sold to stand at Haras El Centauro in Peru. He stood this year at Northview PA near Peach Bottom, Pa.

Foaled in 1997, Lido Palace was one of North America’s top older males the early part of the last decade for John and Jerry Amerman’s Amerman Racing Stables. Trained by Bobby Frankel, Lido Palace captured the Woodward Stakes (gr. I) twice. He also won the Whitney Handicap (gr. I) and the Clark Handicap (gr. II) and placed in five graded stakes including the Jockey Club Gold Cup (gr. I).

Lido Palace (Rich Man's Gold—Sonada, by Quick Decision) stood at Lambholm South near Reddick, Fla., before Northview PA. His three stakes winners include Vineyard Haven, a leading 2-year-old of 2008 who won the Champagne Stakes (gr. I) and the Three Chimneys Hopeful Stakes (gr. I). At 3 Vineyard Haven captured the Frank J. De Francis Memorial Dash Stakes (gr. I).

Lido Palace’s sale was brokered by Catherine Hudson Bloodstock and Lambholm South.
